Project Blackford Update

Here’s a quick update, I’ll have more when I have more. About a month ago, I teased a secret project and I haven’t said a lot about it since. It’s time I remedy that.

It’s on.

Between day job demands, children setting up shop in the ER, colds, procrastinations, and well, just life in general, I haven’t done a lot with it. The opportunity is just too good to pass up, and I will kick myself it I miss on it. I would really like to tell you about it, but mum’s the word until I hear back from the principals.

This year, NaNoWriMo has gone the way of the wild goose on a bender. My word count is dreck, so I’m free to concentrate on Blackford!

And Friday, there’s Dirty Magick: Los Angeles. I’m all a tingle!

I like to think of myself as a man of the world, a well-traveled and experienced individual. My girls say “Nah, you’re just old.” Either way, I never imagined myself in a situation where I would feel out of place. Not uncomfortable, mind you, just clueless. Enter the world of publishing, from an author’s perspective.

Yeah, I buried the lead. “The Winds,” my short story, will be included in the anthology Dirty Magick: Los Angeles, to be released Friday (hence the cheerful color). The anthology is a genre mashup “telling stories where crime and magic intersect in the city that birthed noir, Los Angeles.”
